Our Social Justice Work

The Youth Staff at the Young Women's Empowerment Project are into some amazing Social Justice work right now!!

• Our weekly social justice group is in the process of RESEARCHING their first local campaign to improve the lives of girls and young women involved in the sex trade.
• We are one of the HOST organizations for SISTER SONG!!! This is an amazing conference for women of color working on reproductive rights issues! Check out http://www.sistersong.net for more information
• YWEP just signed onto a letter written by Justice NOW! to end the involuntary sterilization of women in prision. Read and pass on the attached letter below called Gender Justice Statement!
• YWEP is in the process of Co-writing a statement with Center for Women Population and the Environment http://www.cwpe.org that is going to address Texas and MERCK's decision to force testing of the vaccine Gardasil on girls in public school! Check our site in April to see the complete statement.
• YWEP is also taking part of DEPO DIARIES! A storytelling project about our histories with the drug Depo Provera
